The Avon Lake Community Campus is a one of a kind, state of the art retirement home situated in Ohio’s beautiful Lake Erie region. The new 113,500 sq. ft. Nursing and Assisted Living Facility is located in the center of an existing Independent Apartment and Cottage Community. The project is composed of three major structures constituting a 100 bed Rehab/nursing facility, a 30 unit Assisted Living Apartment Residence and a Core Support building.

An enclosed “Main Street” was designed to service both the Rehab/nursing facility as well as the assisted living apartment wings. Main Street serves as the primary entry point for the community. The traditionally residential styled design compliments the regional aesthetic of the entire campus.

The layout of the Rehab/nursing facility is comprised of four resident neighborhood wings, stemming off the “Main Street Core”. The configuration of each wing allows staff members visual access to all areas for easy monitoring and convenient access to central bathing, dining and activity spaces. Courtyards and site amenities are accessible from all wings, offering site walks, benches, potting plant activities and relaxing natural environments.

The western most neighborhoods are designed as Rehab program wings with a total of 50 beds, and offer great views of the community campus as well as great access to Main Street spaces. The Physical Therapy and wellness facility is state of the art with equipment and staffing and is conveniently located adjacent to these neighborhoods as accessed from Main Street. The eastern neighborhoods provide a 30 bed long term nursing wing and a 20 bed staff secured Dementia wing designed as a residential style home.

The Core of Nursing Facility showcases a 150' long, 20' high “Main Street”. This completely enclosed space resembles a typical small town thoroughfare. Decorative street lamps, street signs, and an eclectic array of facades brings a picturesque town-scape to the footsteps of the residents. A diverse use of materials and colors gives plenty for the mind to ingest. A day in town may entail a visit to the beauty parlor, and a bite to eat at the local Café / Ice Cream Parlor, or perhaps a movie or worship in the grand Town Hall Activity space. Everything in Main Street is conveniently located, including the Dining Rooms, administration offices, and parlors
