Karrington of Englewood

The Karrington of Englewood assisted living facility is based on a "clustered cottage" concept, featuring resident living units grouped into four clusters radiating from a central core. Units are grouped around a common parlor divided by a see-thru fireplace. Adjacent to each parlor is a family style kitchen where residents and guests can prepare personal meals, bake cookies or visit with family members and friends. Reminiscent of "Grandma's house", a covered porch is provided off of each family kitchen for resident access to a sheltered outside space. Clustering units provides an intimate neighborhood environment, while minimizing problems associated with large groups. The four clusters allow residents to be grouped by their level of functional ability to promote a highly active lifestyle for each resident of the facility.

Large windows with low sill heights are utilized for generous day lighting and views to the exterior. A variety of room designs and features such as bay windows, turrets, two bedrooms, etc. are provided to allow choices based upon lifestyle and affordability. Support spaces such as the central commercial kitchen, laundry, and administrative spaces are located in the core of the building to utilize windowless spaces and provide efficient service to residents.
